Targeting the wrong audience is a very commonly made mistake, even with all the new tools that make it easier for us markeeters to know who our target audience exactly is, what problems they're going through, and what are their needs and wants.

2-No Blog


People seem to underestimate the power of context marketing, keeping your customers informed and having a niched blog that supports your store purpose is a good way to increase your engagement and create a bond with your customers


3-Not Watching Competition


Although your brand has differentiation point that makes your products standout you need to be aware of the competition as they can expand into your market and issue products similar to you.

A way I like to use to watch the competition is Facebook Ads. this can be done in the following these steps:


1-Search your competitor in Facebook and scroll down to "Page Transparency" click on "See all"

2-After you click on "see all" this tab will pop-up


it will give you basic information such as when the page has been created, where are the people managing it from, and if the page is running any ads, you want to click on Go to Ad Library.


3-here you can see the advertisements your competitor is running on Facebook Ads Manager.



you can aswell see the date the advertisements are launched, if they've been launched a while back and are still running its probably because they're performing well, try to think what makes this advertisement perform well, and what can you do to take inspiration from it and still perform well.



4-Call back to action


a call back to action is when a customer registered as a lead for instance, but didn't make a purchase or when a customer added items to their cart but they never proceeded with the check out, you can push this customer to make the purchase by knowing what his issue exactly is, maybe its the high shipping fee's, in that case you can send him an email to add another item and get free shipping, or to wave the shipping fee's off with a coupon code. maybe the customer thinks your product is expensive, that way you might want to offer him a 10% discount coupon code so he completes his purchase.

you can track the bounce rate and know exactly which page the customer left by using various analytical tools like google analytics. not calling back to action or remarketing is one of the most common digital marketing mistakes in 2022 yet it is one of the most important.



5-Not Adding Videos


According to research Motion Content attracts more attention towards your ads, therefore you might want to include it to your 2022 advertising plan, you might want to start with 60-second videos and see your customer preference from there, are they willing to view longer videos or not?.


6-No Focus on Social Media

having a deep insight of your competitor store or website might not always be enough, you have to compete with them on social media platforms including Facebook, Tiktok, Instagram, Pinterest.. and the list goes on, this can happen by engaging and creating trust between you and your customer, simplify the process of connecting to your company.


7-Not being creative

You might want to include advertisements to support an issue, or tell a story, in simple terms create content that supports a specific cause.

Customer needs are always changing, taking an example the pandemic which increased the demand of masks and cleaning products. Or motion gaming which targeted the problem of kids being inactive due to playing video games. to understand your customer needs and wants you might want to research and keep and eye on your customers feedback.
